Having a record of someone's IP address is certainly not a crime in any way whatsoever. ![]() If you've given out your real name in a way that can be obviously linked to your IP address someone might be able to figure out where you live, though. What they can get from it is at best a very rough geographical location (probably the nearest major city) and the name of your ISP. You are not personally identifiable by your IP address unless you've also shared information like your real name and address that they can link that to. ![]() Unless you're using a VPN 24/7, Every single server you've connected to or website you've visited has a record of your IP, and even then the VPN host would have it.
